LUKA OKROS, piano
Born in 1991 in Tbilisi, Georgia, Luka Okros moved to Moscow in 2004, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory under the tutelage of Sergei Dorensky. In 2013, he was awarded a full scholarship for a Master’s degree at the Royal College of Music where he studied with Norma Fisher.
At the age of 18, Luka made his US debut at the Carnegie Hall. He has given concerts in many of the world’s most famous halls, such as the Wigmore Hall, the Cadogan Hall and the Elgar Room of the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Salle Cortot and Radio France Hall in Paris, the Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto, the Palau de la Musica in Valencia and Barcelona and has also performed in Canada, Italy,
Switzerland, Germany, Israel, Japan, Russia, Georgia, South Africa, Turkey, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
During the last two years he has won more than ten top international prizes and awards, including Grand Prix at the 4th Hong Kong International Piano Competition, first prize at the Iturbi Prize Valencia Piano Competition in Spain, first prizes at both the Morocco Philharmonic International Piano Competition and the Piano Campus Competition at Cergy-Pontoise in France, and several prestigious awards from the Hattori Foundation, the Tillett Trust and the Tabor Foundation Piano Award at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland.
In March 2017 Mr. Okros won the First Prize at the Hannover Chopin International Piano Competition.
As a winner of the Jaques Samuel Intercollegiate Piano Competition, Luka was interviewed by Sean Rafferty on the “In Tune” programme of BBC Radio 3, during which he performed pieces by Liszt and Rachmaninov.
KELLY TALIM, violin
Kelly Talim was born in Japan and started the violin aged 7. Currently a student at the Columbia University in the City of New York and The Juilliard School, she studies under the direction of Li Lin. She previously studied with Cyrus Forough, Carol Sindell and Hae-Jin Kim. As a soloist, she has performed with the Seattle Symphony, Montgomery Symphony, and Oregon Symphony, among others. She has attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Brunswick, Maine, as well as the Great Mountains Music Festival and School, Ishikawa Music Festival, The International Holland Music Sessions, and L’Académie Internationale d’Eté de Nice.
HANNAH-LIISA KIRCHIN, mezzo-soprano
British mezzo soprano Hanna-Liisa Kirchin is a recent alumnus of the National Opera Studio and studies with soprano Nelly Miricioiu. She is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music and ENO's Opera Works.
The 2017/18 season includes Flora in a new production of La Traviata with Nederlandse Reisopera, The Mayor's Wife in Janacek's Jenufa with Grange Park Opera, Orfeo in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice with Longborough Festival Opera, and covering the role of Arsace in Handel's Partenope at English National Opera.
In the 2016 season she made an international debut as Fidalma Il Matrimonio Segreto — in a coproduction between Dutch National Opera, De Nederlandse Reis Opera and Opera Zuid — , and UK debuts as Wowkle La Fanciulla Del West with Grange Park Opera, and Ruggiero Alcina with Longborough Festival Opera.
2015 included the World Premiere of Nigel Osborne's «Bosnian Voices» with the critically acclaimed Liverpool Philharmonic 10/10 ensemble, and an appearance at the Oxford Lieder Festival. Awards have included the Miriam Licette Scholarship (Help Musicians UK), the RNCM Elizabeth Harwood Memorial Prize and an Opera Awards Foundation Bursary. She was a finalist in the Jette Parker Young Artist auditions at Covent Garden in 2014 and 2015, and a 2015 Les Azuriales Young Artist.
Previously, roles include Cenerentola La Cenerentola, Sesto La Clemenza di Tito, Mercedes Carmen, Mrs Herring Albert Herring, Xerxes Xerxes, Penelope Il ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria, and Masha Paradise Moscow, Old Nog Tarka the Otter Buxton Festival Opera, 3rd Wild Goose/Poppet Paul Bunyan British Youth Opera and Ensemble Orfeo Bayerische Staatsoper.
