Introduction to open water swim is aimed at adult swimmers who wish to experience the joy of swimming in open water. This session is ideal for triathletes, competitive or leisure swimmers — minimum swim ability is 200m (8 x 25 lengths).
There is a classroom based introduction, safety briefing etc followed by aclimitisation and leisurely swim in the filtered waters of Salford Quays at the Helly Hansen Watersports Centre. For your own comfort, and safety wetsuits are recommended (compulsory if the water is less than 14 degrees) — these can be hired from the Watersports Centre for £9.
Numbers are limited to ensure that your experience is a relaxed and positive one.
Helly Hansen Watersports Centre offer full safety support, lockers for your belongings, car parking onsite and closeby, and warm showers for after your swim.

Introductory sessions will be run most Mondays at Salford Quays, so if you can't make this one there will be plenty more to choose from.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Minimum age for this event is 16 years.
What do I need to bring for the event?
You will need to bring a swimsuit, swimcap, goggles, and towel. Wetsuits are compulsory if the water is below 14 degrees (these can be hired from the Watersports Centre for a small charge. You will also need warm socks, layers, hat and gloves to change into after your swim.

What's the refund policy?
Unfortunately I cannot offer refunds for missed events.
If the event is cancelled due to severe weather conditions and on the advice of the Watersports Centre, a refund or alternative date will be arranged.
