«Healing Herbs at Manchester Museum» with Fang Zong
Healing Herbs have been used throughout history. Looking at the herbs growing in our greenhouse, we can recall the old remedies of common herbs, like Parsley, Sage, Rosemary … and Mint.
This talk will include a closer look at valuable Herbarium Collections and explore the new discovery of a special herb with ‘healing’ effects on both humanity and nature, and see some ‘live specimens’ as well.
Collection Bites are half an hour talks hosted by our Visitor Team every other Monday. Our Visitor Team are on the museum floor with our collections every day so are perfectly placed to give bite-sized introductions to our collection — with a bit of a contemporary twist.
Have a look at some of the stories so far on the Visitor Team blog: storiesfromthemuseumfloor.wordpress.com
Collection Bites take place in the Collections Study Centre on the 3rd floor, and are free to attend. There is no need to book, just meet at reception 10 minutes before the start of the talk.
