Stitched Up, 527B Wilbraham Road (down short alleyway next to Maple Kitchens & Bathrooms), Chorlton,
An introduction to the ancient Japanese dye technique Shibori. Join us for a fun evening experimenting resist dyeing techniques using beautiful blue natural indigo dye.
This workshop also serves as an induction for our Open Vaturdays – set days when you can use our workshop space and indigo vat to work on your own projects.
Skills: Learn to use resist techniques including stitch and tying using found items to create different patterns on fabric with indigo dye. Take home a set of beautiful samples to refer to in future.
Bring: Bring some fabric or old clothes to dye. To take the dye, they must be made from natural fibres – cotton, linen, hemp, silk or wool. If you don’t have anything suitable there will be some organic natural fabrics on sale on the day for anyone who needs them. This workshop is going to get messy, so please wear or bring clothes you don’t mind getting dye on.
