Alan Wilkinson (alto & bass saxophones, bass clarinet) & Andrew Cheetham (drums) are on tour together this September. Following up on a great trio set at Islington Mill in April for this Manchester date they're joined by David Birchall (guitar)

official press blurb
«This tour brings together the furious sound of Alan Wilkinson (saxophone/bass clarinet) and Andrew Cheetham (drums) for the first time since recording together in April. It is a meeting between a stalwart of the UK improvising scene in Wilkinson and one part of a younger generation of improvisers developing in Manchester’s fertile outsider scene. The music will undoubtedly have sustained periods of intensity as Wilkinson pushes the limits and engages with Cheetham’s propulsive stream of rhythm. Alan Wilkinson has collaborated with a huge list of improvisers, such as: Peter Brotzmann, Eddie Prevost, John Edwards, Derek Bailey, Chris Corsano, Thurston Moore and many more. Andrew Cheetham is the drummer with an array of bands in Manchester, including Desmadrados Soldados de Ventura, Yerba Mansa and Irma Vep.»

Ecka Mordecai (cello) + Sam Weaver (modular synth)

Ecka Mordecai has played in Renaissance (viola de gamba) and Classical (cello) musics, free improvisation (extended/prepared cello) and sound art (sculpture, compositon).

Composer and sound artist Sam Weaver uses his studio as a laboratory for sonic investigation and production, re-routing instruments into abstraction and deliberately misusing his equipment. Sam’s work exists between acousmatic music, free improvisation and experimental electronics, seeking to explore the dynamics of sonic harmony and chaos.

He is one half of the London outfit Hungryghost, and has recorded and performed with Charles Hayward, Danny Saul, Ecka Mordecai, Otto Wilberg, Rachel Goodyear, Konstrukt, Tombed Visions, Gnod and Kevin Drumm. Alongside this he also finds time to curate and run Cusp Editions, an imprint that champions new sonic territories in electronics, improvisation and beyond.

PLUS DJing from David McLean of Tombed Visions Records
