Grosvenor Building, Cavendish Street, M15 6 Manchester, United Kingdom
Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs
Looking at the streets and buildings that surround us, it can be difficult to think about them in terms of their raw materials. The city often works to soundtrack of digging, drilling, filling, hammering — the turning of materials into desirable objects is a part of the demand for constant progress, even though the consequences are not always clear. The artworks in Material Remains direct their fascination towards the materials that are normally left behind, from the explosive spectacle of demolition, through to the capturing of wastelands and the re-working of objects on a more domestic scale.
Whatever action we take, there is always something that is left behind, some trace of the material remains of our existence. It is these traces which provide the focus of the exhibition and help uncover what lies beneath or beyond our vision.
Exhibition continues 23.10.17 — 15.12.17
