A former Poet In Residence for Glastonbury Festival (official) and a regular on tv and radio, Manchester poet Tony Walsh (Longfella: Poet Tony Walsh) came to global attention when his passionate poem «This Is The Place» trended worldwide after the arena bombing vigil in Albert Sq.
Tony was subsequently invited to perform at both the One Love concert at Old Trafford and the We Are Manchester concert to mark the re-opening of the arena. A design-led book of the poem, featuring iconic names like Peter Saville and Malcolm Garrett, is set to be an instant Sunday Times hardback best-seller and Tony's recent gig at the Frog&Bucket was the fastest ever show to sell out in the venue's 23 year history.
A massive music fan with hugely wide-ranging tastes, Tony has most recently dj'd at Manchester International Festival's pavilion tent and at Club Zero Mcr events in Didsbury and Prestwich.
Promising to dig through his vinyl crates for his slot at One Deck Wednesday, expect everything from punk to funk, Northern Soul to southern rock, Bowie to Bollywood, psychedelia to psychobilly, dub to The Dubliners and Johnny Cash to poor old Johnny Ray.
«So hurry up! And bring your jukebox money!» for a night that's sure to be as electric as it is eclectic.
