Following on from the two wonderful Acid House parties at The Abbey Tap in Dec '17 and Feb '18, we bring you 'Don't Beam Me Up!'. More of the old-school party vibes, dance floor love-ins and kicking tracks, but we are broadening the sounds — hoovering up from the multiverse and bringing it all down to mother-earth. From reggae to breaks, acid to afro-beat, techno to hip-hop, funk to jungle and who knows what else, we'll mix it up nicely with the Don't Beam Me Up crew. A new collective name for a tight group of friends and collaborators, with some connections going back almost 30 years, from the warehouse parties of Blackburn, through Hulme dub mash-ups, artivist DIY collectives, record labels and remixes.
DJs… on the night:
Dom (Blood and Fire) — Reggae selector and remixer from the classic outernational label, plus current imprint, Kingspinna.
Damien Mahoney — Man behind Caulbearers, Music As Medicine, a part of Single Cell Collective, Defunkles, etc.)
DJ Rich — (Vinyl Fantasy / No.9 Kru). Solid DJ — Strictly vinyl, bringing breaks, jungle and the odd old school classic.
Daughters Of Lee Marvin — The fabulously named DJ debut for Crista and Liz, who will offer up a cosmopolitan starter of house, funk, hip-hop and anything else they love to share with you.
As always, we'll keep the fires burning outside and the music bouncing inside. XX
