SEA Greater Manchester Branch’s next meeting will be held on June 13th 7-9pm at the Mechanic’s Institute.
The main focus of the Manchester meeting will be ‘What should be done in the first 100 days of a Labour Government in terms of education?’ and what could be done at a local level. Our Secretary and Deputy General Secretary of the SEA nationally, Naomi Fearon, will be speaking about Special Educational Needs and SEN provision in Manchester; Steve Longden will be sharing his experience and ideas as a teacher in a comprehensive school and how this contrasts to his role as recently elected Councillor in the selective system of Trafford. We will also be joined by Mel Ainscow, Professor of Education at the University of Manchester and co-director of the centre for Equity in Education. He will be discussing his research and work in Greater Manchester.
We will also be conducting some Branch business as Naomi has outlined in her emails to members.
