The Carlton Club
Rowan Lodge, 113 Carlton Road, M16 8BE Manchester, United Kingdom
We're heading out into the leafy suburb of Whalley Range on July 19th for a mid-week punk rock party at The Carlton Club Whalley Range! Here is what we say about us on our bio....which is as good a place to start as any!
Cold Water Swimmers tell stories of life and death and all the stuff in between, formed when the dark nights of February 2018 seemed never-ending. A simple formula of great songs, primal beats and raw emotion, call it punk if you like but in reality, it’s the sound of what happens when you have no choice but to keep on keeping on.
The three-piece fronted by guitarist and songwriter Chris Bridgett (dub sex, rude club, The G-O-D) along with Carrie Lawson on bass guitar and Selina Clements Woolnough on drums deliver a live performance soaked to the bone with rock n roll attitude and defiance.
The band’s debut release, recorded with Simon Ding Archer at 6db Studios Salford, will be available to stream and download in all of the usual places from July 16th 2018.
( so this is a bit like a debut release party thing for us!)
“Everything We’ve Ever Had (we’ve had to fight for)” is a rallying cry against austerity, a reminder that the lives we live can be so easily wiped and that anything we want is out there when we fight for it.
“She’s Falling Apart” is a story of failing leaders and institutions, celebrity culture and the struggle for mental health more and more of us endure existing alongside an alienating, over connected and shallow culture.
So Join the party plus The Carlton Club is a top gaf and right for a proper do :-)
… plus it's only charging £3 on the door :-)
